WHAT IS
DRONE RACING?

First Person View (FPV) drone racing is a competition where pilots control drones equipped with cameras while wearing goggles that stream the live video feed from the drones so they feel like they’re flying from inside the drone. The goal is to complete a complex race course as quickly as possible and ahead of the other pilots in the heat. Competitions are held in stadiums around the world and also with our pilots flying virtually in the DRL SIM, the true-to-life drone racing simulator.

What is the
DRONE RACING LEAGUE (DRL)

DRL is the global, professional drone racing property for elite pilots. With custom built racing drones traveling 90 MPH, pilots race through the most insane courses across virtual and physical competitions. Merging the digital with the real, DRL delivers innovative drone technology, immersive content, and visually thrilling races on the best sports networks around the world, including NBC, NBC Sports, Twitter, Facebook, Sky Sports, ProSieben, Groupe AB, and Weibo.

2020 DRL ALLIANZ
WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP SEASON

Drone Racing League is entering its 5th season. The 2020 DRL Allianz World Championship season will feature 12 pilots from all around the world to compete in 16 Levels.

The 2020 competition takes place in the DRL SIM, the true-to-life drone racing simulator available on XBOX and STEAM in the first ever virtual season.

Top pilots navigate virtual versions of custom, high-speed DRL Racer4 drones, flying through complex, neon-bright courses --all from home, spanning the globe. The track may be virtual, but physics, the controller movements and racing are real.

HOW DO POINTS WORK?
DRL’s Pilots are awarded points based on their order of finish in each event, known as a Level. With 12 pilots competing, the first-pace pilot earns 12 points, the second-place pilot earns 11 points, and so on, with the 12th place finisher receiving only 1 point.

WHAT IS A HEAT?
A single timed race from start to finish (e.g. there are five heats in the Finals).
WHAT IS A LEVEL?
Similar to video games, our 12 pilots compete in a unique track competing in Semifinals & Finals to advance in their overall standing based on the points awarded for their overall finish. The pilot with the most points at the end of the season wins.
