The Drone Racing League has created the premiere professional league of this sport and in doing so, taken the first steps in delivering on the promise of futuristic, tech-enabled sport. DRL is able to do this through the unique combination of our live sports events, custom drone technology and in-house film production to deliver the sport of the future.
Being a sport of the future that blurs the line between real racing and a video game, means that we have the opportunity to race not only race in interesting locations but also build worlds for the fans that lean into the futuristic and game-like experience.
18 pilots will compete in the season but only 10 will go to the championship. Each pilot flies 4 of the regular season’s 6 events. The winner of each event clinches a spot in the championship. The remaining slots are awarded to the pilot's with the most season points. Winner of the championship wins the season.
The 2018 DRL season consists of 18 pilots who compete across 7 Levels of races. 6 regular season Levels and 1 World Championship. The winner of each Level secures a place in the Championship. The remaining slots go to the pilots with the best average finishes. The winner of the Championship wins the season.
