COMMUNICATIONS COORDINATOR

Location: New York City

Reports to: Director of Communications

The Drone Racing League (DRL) is the premier, global drone racing circuit and producer of world-class sports content. We are seeking a Communications Coordinator to help implement a global communications strategy, pitch stories and track PR coverage. The candidate must be highly organized, creative, self-motivated and able to work in a fast-paced environment. Performance will be based on awareness and other KPIs critical to the growth of the sport and company (i.e. press hits, impressions, ad value, etc).

The candidate must have excellent written and verbal skills with a strong attention to detail and ability to multitask. This role will report to the Communications Director.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build Relationships With Media & Social Influencers: Conduct outreach to media to drive coverage around key initiatives including race events, tech announcements and pilots
  • Expand PR Lists: Research media, influencers, talent, speaking opportunities and awards submission opportunities to identify new PR contacts for DRL
  • Coordinate Speaking Engagements: Support on creating briefing documents, arranging travel & hospitality logistics, and developing presentation materials materials for DRL stakeholders
  • Submit Award Applications: Research award submission opportunities and project manage application submission process from start to finish
  • Monitor PR: Leverage PR monitoring tools to track and measure press hits, including reach and ad value, maintain trackers for pending placements and pitch lists, support on press recap deck creations, and clipping reports
  • Create News Roundups: Research sponsor, investor, and non-DRL affiliated brand announcements and industry trends around relevant spaces, such as drones, artificial intelligence, and robotic racing sports
  • Contribute to team brainstorms: Support team on developing PR/Marketing stunt, story and gifting ideas
  • Provide administrative support: Create meeting agendas, recap notes, and action-lists
  • Collaborate with the marketing and social media team: Help maximize digital amplification of PR opportunities and press hits

 

Requirements:

  • 1 – 2 years in a PR, marketing or sales role
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a proven ability to persuade, influence, and negotiate
  • Hyper-organized with an impeccable attention to detail
  • Willingness to pick up the phone and cold pitch
  • Excellent multi-tasking skills and comfort in managing multiple projects on a regular basis
  • Team player
