Manager, Event Production

The Drone Racing League (DRL) is the premier, global drone-racing circuit and producer of world-class sports content. As a futuristic sport that blurs the line between the real and the digital, we get to race in the most legendary locations around the globe and immerse fans into video-game-inspired courses.  

What You’ll Do: 

  • Work cross departmentally to define and execute the overall vision and plan for the on-site event guest experience including but not limited to partner activation layout and programming, branding and signage, ingress and egress paths, merchandise, food and beverage, sports presentation, and partnership integration 
  • Formulate and execute all guest facing event elements, in line with Marketing’s goals and objectives and Partnership deliverables, including but not limited to, partner activations, guest ingress and egress, sports presentation, guest hospitality, press management, merchandise and concessions
  • Operate in lock step with the Marketing and Partnerships team to ensure the external manifestation and execution of the DRL brand on-site at events for all fans, guests, and VIPs
  • Own all elements of the VIP experience and coordinate with internal and external resources to deliver top tier hospitality for DRL partners, investors, and invited guests; including but not limited to coordination of on-site tours, pilot meet and greets, F&B, arrival logistics, exclusive seating/viewing areas, and event communications
  • Formulate and execute on-site plan for any credentialed members of the press including pre-event communication, check-in and on-site movements
  • Work cross departmentally to ensure comprehensive guest communication, seamless integration of guest experience into overall event plan, and delivery of truly memorable fan experience for all guests on-site from GA to VVIP
  • Collaborate with Marketing to design a ticketing and promotion strategy (eg: ticket types, seating allocation, comp list management), working alongside  external partners (eg: promoters, ticketing platforms) to implement the agreed plan on-site
  • Full budget responsibility of all guest experience elements from projection to reconciliation; coordinate across all stakeholders involved in production to ensure all projected and actual costs are documented and budgets stay on track
  • Travel to event locations for site visits, planning meetings, and on-site execution 

Who You Are: 

  • 5-7 years’ experience in event operations; live event experience preferred 
  • Degree from a college or university 
  • Event design experience, with a focus on guest engagement, activations, and branding
  • Demonstrated ability to manage vendors and crew on-site during large scale productions
  • Strong people management skills, including leading groups on-site at events, and ability to work with multiple stakeholders across multiple teams 
  • Positive attitude, team player 
  • Understanding that the responsibilities of the role and working hours may be on the weekends and holidays, depending on the programming schedule
  • Willingness to travel approximately 25% of the time, for site visits, planning meetings, and on-site execution; may be higher depending on event schedule 
  • Desire to work at a high growth, early stage company
