Software Engineer

Reports To: Head of Engineering

The Drone Racing League (DRL) is the premier, global drone-racing league, and producer of world-class drone sports content. At once a tech, media, events, and sports company, DRL blends a diverse array of disciplines and industries.

We are looking for a driven full stack developer who will help craft the next generation systems and tools used at DRL. You will be responsible for building out the systems that integrate with our racing environment, building specialized tools for engineering and research, and crafting exciting new technologies.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Implement application development including requirements gathering, architecture design, documentation, implementation and integration
  • Develop and expand the functionality of the DRL Race Operations System (RaceStack)
  • Support the application deployments on-site at DRL events, including live troubleshooting and analysis
  • Develop research-grade and engineering applications
  • Interface with our other engineering departments and their projects
  • Collaborate with a strong team and our stakeholders

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Strong JavaScript skills, fluency with HTML5
  • Understanding of system interoperability including messaging, sockets, APIs and data interface layers
  • Understanding of UI/UX, cross-browser compatibility, general web functions and standards
  • Understanding of application development in a multi-platform environment
  • Experience with Git including tags and issue management
  • Experience with a bug/issue tracking tool
  • Data visualization understanding and skills
  • Experience with Node.js and Express
  • Shell/Bash skills, a great bonus
  • C/C++ or Python skills, a great bonus
  • Docker understanding, a great bonus
  • 1+ Years Professional Development Experience or Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering
