Social Media and Content Associate




The Drone Racing League (DRL) is a premier, global drone-racing league and producer of world-class drone sports content. We are seeking a Social Media and Content Associate to help develop and deliver our marketing strategy, manage and grow our social media platforms, and develop and manage our content calendar for our fast growing sport.

The ideal candidate is a highly organized, self-motivated marketing professional interested in media, technology and high-speed racing sports and the lifestyle that goes along with them. You are deeply familiar with the universe of digital media and drones, and have a demonstrated track record of growing familiarity and affiliation with a brand using content and marketing strategies. 

You’ll help to use content and social media to cement DRL as the leader in drone sports and grow our viewership and fan base across a variety of platforms. You will also help manage all event and non-event marketing, generally working to make DRL the top online destination for drone racing for enthusiasts and fans alike.

Overview: Drone racing & DRL

Drone racing is a fun and exciting sport in which quad-copter drones fly around a pre-set 3-dimensional course. Pilots control the drones via remote controls, wearing FPV (first person view) goggles to steer from the drone’s point of view. The drones travel up to 150mph and can fly inches off the ground to several hundred feet in the air, depending on the course.

The races give the thrill of first person flight mixed with the high speeds and competitive dynamics of car racing. The events create fast, short, exciting content. The drone pilots come from all walks of life and are diverse, colorful personalities with compelling life stories.

DRL is the premiere brand in FPV drone racing. It is the “Formula 1” of the drone world, producing exciting content for both enthusiasts and those new to the sport.


  • Oversee day-to-day on core social media platforms, including Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, and Twitter
  • Create a content strategy and editorial calendar that supports and extends marketing initiatives, both short- and long-term, determining which methods work best for the brand and why
  • Create and strategically recycle/repurpose highly targeted, multi-channel collateral for each channel
  • Ensure that all content is on-brand, consistent in terms of style, quality and tone of voice
  • Track content performance from start to finish

Education & Experience:

  • B.A. from a top tier college or university required
  • 2+ years social media and online community experience, especially YouTube
  • Experience working with influencers
  • Creative thinker with excellent writing skills
  • Strong customer service background
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Significant knowledge and understanding of marketing  research
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills
  • Proven ability to handle multiple assignments and continuously prioritize tasks in a fast paced work environment
  • Willingness to work long and sometimes irregular hours a must to include nights, holidays and weekends
  • Positive attitude, team oriented team player
  • Ability to maintain confidential information
  • Drone, drone racing, or automotive racing enthusiast
  • Desire to work at a high growth, early stage company
