Welcome to the Drone Racing League, Inc.’s privacy policy! 

The Drone Racing League, Inc. (referred to herein as “DRL” “we”, “us” or “our”) respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your information.  This privacy policy will inform you as to how we look after your information when you visit our website (regardless of where you visit it from) and tell you about your privacy rights and how the law protects you.

DRL operate the website located at https://thedroneracingleague.com and its subdomains (the “website”), as well as associated applications and digital services (such as mobile and other device applications), and other associated offerings that are owned, offered or operated by or on behalf of DRL.  This privacy notice does not apply to any other websites, apps or services provided by us, our affiliates or clients, unless it appears on such website, app or service.

GENERAL AUDIENCE

Our website is designed for a general audience and not directed to minors. We do not knowingly collect information from visitors under age 16 (or such other age as may be restricted under local law). In the event that we learn that we have collected information from minors, we will delete that information as quickly as practicable.

THE INFORMATION WE COLLECT ABOUT YOU

Personal data, or personal information, means any information about an individual from which that person can be identified.  It does not include data where the identity has been removed (i.e., anonymous data). 

We may collect, use, store, and transfer different kinds of information about you, including potentially the following categories:

  • Contact Data includes billing address, delivery address, email address and telephone numbers.
  • Financial Data includes bank account and payment card details.
  • Transaction Data includes details about payments to and from you and other details of products and services you have purchased from us.
  • Technical Data includes internet protocol (IP) address, your login data, browser type and version, time zone setting and location, browser plug-in types and versions, operating system and platform, and other technology on the devices you use to access this website.
  • Profile Data includes your username and password, purchases or orders made by you, your interests, preferences, feedback and survey responses.
  • Usage Data includes information about how you use our website, products and services.
  • Marketing and Communications Data includes your preferences in receiving marketing from us and our third parties and your communication preferences.

We also collect, use and share aggregated data such as statistical or demographic data for any purpose. If we combine or connect aggregated data with your personal data so that it can directly or indirectly identify you, we treat the combined data as personal data which will be used in accordance with this privacy policy. 

Where we need to collect personal data by law, or under the terms of a contract we have with you, and you fail to provide that data when requested, we may not be able to perform the contract we have or are trying to enter into with you (for example, to provide you with goods or services). In this case, we may have to cancel a product or service you have with us.   

It is important that the personal data we hold about you is accurate and current. Please keep us informed if your personal data changes during your relationship with us.

HOW IS YOUR INFORMATION COLLECTED?

Information you provide directly to us. You may give us your information by interacting with our website or corresponding with us by post, phone, email or otherwise. This includes personal data you provide when you:

This may include your name, e-mail address, photo, gender, birthday, location, an ID associated with the applicable third party platform or social media account user files, like photos and videos, your list of friends or connections, people you follow and/or who follow you, or your posts or the ‘likes’. Automated technologies or interactions. As you interact with our website, we and/or our third party service providers, advertisers, advertising networks and platforms, agencies, or other partners (“Partners”) will automatically collect various information about you and your equipment, browsing actions, and patterns. 

  • Cookie Data and Data from Various Tracking Technologies – We may use cookies, server logs, and other similar technologies, including, but not limited to: network or Internet protocol address and type of browser you are using (e.g., Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Internet Explorer), the type of operating system you are using, (e.g., Microsoft Windows or Mac OS), the name of your Internet service provider (e.g., Comcast, Verizon or AT&T) and domains used by such providers, mobile network, device identifiers (such as Apple IDFA or an Android Advertising ID), device settings, browser settings, the web pages of our website you have visited, sites visited before and after you visit our website, the type of handheld or mobile device used to view our website (e.g., iOS, Android), location information, and the content and advertisements you have accessed, seen, forwarded and/or clicked on.   • [Precise Location Data – If you are accessing our website from a mobile device or through a mobile application, you may be asked to share your precise (GPS level) geo-location information with us so we can customize your experience on the website or on other services, when we work with a partner such as a third party mobile ad platform.   • Online Behavioral/Ad Targeting Data – We may engage Partners to use your information in connection with their own information to deliver targeted advertising to you when you visit our website or other websites. Cookies, described above, may be used in this process. For example, if you are searching for information on a particular product, our vendor may cause an advertisement to appear on other websites you view with information on that product. This form of advertising is called “online behavioral advertising”. We believe that such advertising is helpful because you will see ads that are relevant to your interests. Third parties. We may receive your information from various third parties and public sources as set out below.

  • Technical Data from the following parties: (a) analytics providers; (b) advertising networks; (c) search information providers and (d) other Partners, particularly if our cookies are employed on their websites;
  • Contact, Financial and Transaction Data from providers of technical, payment and delivery services;
  • Identity and Contact Data from data brokers or aggregators;
  • Identity and Contact Data from publicly available sources.
  • Identity and Contact Data from someone who may order you an electronic greeting card or online gift to be sent directly to you.  This may include name, addresses, email address, and telephone number.

Note that when you order tickets for DRL events via third-party service providers, the respective service provider will gather and store Information about you. This could include, but not be limited to Identity and Contact Data, Financial Data, Transaction Data, Technical Data, Profile Data, and more. This information will be transferred to DRL and used by us to identify you and for administration, communication, enforcement and access control purposes for proper performance of the contractual obligations to which we are committed to.

Lastly, unaffiliated partners and third parties may themselves set and access their own tracking technologies when you visit our website and they may have access to information about you and your online activities over time and across different websites or applications when you use the website. Their use of such tracking technologies is not within our control and is subject to their own privacy policies. 

THIRD PARTY LINKS AND SOCIAL MEDIA

This website may include links to or integrations with other third-party websites, plug-ins, and applications.  Clicking on those links or enabling those connections may allow third parties to collect or share data about you.  We do not control these third-party websites and are not responsible for their privacy statements. When you leave our website, you are subject to the terms and conditions of those third party websites, and we encourage you to read the privacy policies of every website you visit.

The Website may integrate with social networking services.  You understand that we do not control such services and are not liable for the manner in which they operate.  While we may provide you with the ability to use such services in connection with our Website, we are doing so merely as an accommodation and, like you, are relying upon those third party services to operate properly and fairly.

You should be aware that information which you voluntarily include and transmit online in a publicly accessible blog, social network or otherwise online may be viewed and used by others.  We are unable to control such uses of your information, and by using such services you assume the risk that the information provided by you may be viewed and used by third parties.

Legal Basis. We will also process your personal data in accordance with your consent. You have the right to withdraw consent to marketing at any time by contacting us at privacy@THEDRONERACINGLEAGUE.COM. Below are other types of lawful basis that we will rely on to process your personal data:

  • Legitimate Interest means the interest of our business in conducting and managing our business to enable us to give you the best service/product and the best and most secure experience. We make sure we consider and balance any potential impact on you (both positive and negative) and your rights before we process your personal data for our legitimate interests. We do not use your personal data for activities where our interests are overridden by the impact on you (unless we have your consent or are otherwise required or permitted to by law). DISCLOSURES OF YOUR INFORMATION TO THIRD PARTIES

We may share your information with the internal or external for the purposes described below.  With respect to our Partners, we require them to respect the security of your information and to treat it in accordance with the law. We do not allow our Partners to use your information for their own purposes and only permit them to process your information for specified purposes and in accordance with our instructions. This may include service providers that: (a) conduct research and analytics; (b) create content; (c) provide customer, technical or operational support; (d) conduct or support marketing (such as email or advertising platforms); (e) fulfill orders and user requests; (f) handle payments; (g) host the website, forums and online communities; (h) administer contests; (i) maintain databases; (j) send or support online or mobile advertising; and (k) otherwise support our site and our business.
  • In response to legal processes, for example, in response to a court order or a subpoena, a law enforcement or government agency’s request or similar request, or where we believe in our sole discretion it is necessary.

  • That identifies your mobile device, telecommunications carrier and information regarding your access/use of our mobile applications to DRL’s wireless communications partner.

Please note that we may offer content (e.g., contests, sweepstakes, promotions, games, applications, or social network integrations) that is sponsored or co-branded with identified third parties. By virtue of these relationships, the third parties may obtain information from their visitors. We have no control over these third parties’ use of this information, which is subject to their own privacy policies.

 CHANGE OF PURPOSE  

We will only use your information for the purposes for which we collected it, unless we reasonably consider that we need to use it for another reason and that reason is compatible with the original purpose. If you wish to get an explanation as to how the processing for the new purpose is compatible with the original purpose, please contact us.

If we need to use your information for an unrelated purpose, to the extent we are legally required to do so, we will notify you and we will either obtain your express consent or, if consent is not needed, explain the legal basis which allows us to do so.  Please note that we may process your information without your knowledge or consent, in compliance with the above rules, where this is required or permitted by law.

MARKETING

Promotional offers from us. We may use your information to form a view on what we think you may want or need, or what may be of interest to you. This is how we decide which products, services and offers may be relevant for you. You will receive marketing communications from us if you have requested information from us or purchased goods or services from us and you have not opted out of receiving that marketing.

Please note that by opting out of online behavioral advertising, you will continue to see generic advertising that is not tailored to your specific interests and activities. How we respond to do-not-track signals. At this time our website does not recognize automated browser signals regarding tracking mechanisms, which may include “do not track” instructions.

DATA SECURITY  

We have put in place appropriate security measures to prevent your information from being accidentally lost, used or accessed in an unauthorized way, altered or disclosed. In addition, we limit access to your information to those employees, agents, contractors and other third parties who have a business need to know. They will only process your information on our instructions and they are subject to a duty of confidentiality.

Although we take appropriate measures to safeguard against unauthorized disclosures of Information, due to the open nature of the internet, we cannot assure you that your information will never be disclosed, altered or destroyed in an unauthorized manner.  

DATA RETENTION   

We will only retain your information for as long as reasonably necessary to fulfill the purposes we collected it for, including for the purposes of satisfying any legal, regulatory, tax, accounting or reporting requirements. We may retain your information for a longer period in the event of a complaint or if we reasonably believe there is a prospect of litigation in respect to our relationship with you.

To determine the appropriate retention period for your information, we consider the amount, nature and sensitivity of the information, the potential risk of harm from unauthorized use or disclosure of your information, the purposes for which we process your information and whether we can achieve those purposes through other means, and the applicable legal, regulatory, tax, accounting or other requirements.

CALIFORNIA SHINE THE LIGHT

Under California’s “Shine the Light” law, California residents have the right to request in writing from businesses with whom they have an established business relationship, (a) a list of the categories of personal information, such as name, email address and mailing address and the type of services provided to the customer that a business has disclosed to third parties (including affiliates that are separate legal entities) during the immediately preceding calendar year for the third parties’ direct marketing purposes and (b) the names and addresses of all such third parties.
